Easter gifts for kids that can be used for any occassions

Personally, I feel most of the easter gifts for kids can be apply to any special occasions? Why am I using easter day in this scenario? This is because, easter is truly a children occasion, there are no adult element unlike Christmas where the focus now is central on entertaining the adults...

If you are looking for crafts, there are plenty of easter crafts for kids that can be used for any special holidays (with some changes), and similar DIY easter gifts for children is applicable to other occasions as well.

Here, we would look at one of the more popular easter gifts for kids -easter eggs. Most parents would buy the easter eggs from supermarket. Well, if it just for your own kids, that is okay. But, if you are buying for a family or a classroom, it can cost you a bomb.

Marketed by big confectionery companies like Nestle, Cal bury and Mars, they know that this is a once in a year event and parents usually have to buy their Easter eggs, so the pricing are very much marked up. Can you imagine paying $10 for a set of 3 Easter chocolate eggs?

Forget about buying it. Mr Pipi would show you how to do it yourself easily and you can even do it for christmas, your kids birthday parties and so on. We are going to learn how to make agar agar eggs.

Agar agar is slightly similar to jello except that it is harder. It is a gelatinous substance derived from seaweed and it is used extensively as a desserts in Asia (especially Japan). This should be available in most Supermarkets like NTUC or Giant (in Singapore).

Step 1

The first thing you need to do is to collect egg shells. For that, you would probably need to collect it a few weeks in advance (unless you planned to use 20 eggs for a dish at one go!).

Make a small hole about the size of your thumb, drain out the content inside the egg and use it. Wash the inside of the egg, this is important, as you do not want to have any left over egg smell!

Then, allow it to dry.

Step 2

Once you have the number of egg shells available, simply prepare the agar agar mixture accordingly to the instruction (usually on the back of the sachets).

Then, pour in the mixture into egg shells. The mixture is hot, so allow it to cool down under room temperature. Once it is cool, put it into the fridge for it to be harden.

Step 3

In step 2, you already have done the eggs for your easter gifts for kids, Step 3 is to highlight the possibility in using this gift.

Because it is inside the egg shells, you can use non toxic pens to write and draw the kids names you would be giving to (if you are leading Sunday schools, these eggs are perfect to use for easter crafts for kids. You can also prepare stickers to stick on it.

If you are having church functions, you can use few of these eggs to prepare small easter basket for kids.

These agar agar eggs, because it is stronger than jello, still taste good under room temperature, and allowing you to customize make it a perfect children gift for any occasions, not just kids easter gifts.
